Wedding Information

“Marriage is a gift God has given to all humankind for the well-being of the entire human family. Marriage is a civil contract between a woman and a man. For Christians marriage is a covenant through which a man and a woman are called to live out together before God their lives of discipleship. In a service of Christian marriage a lifelong commitment is made by a woman and a man to each other, publicly witnessed and acknowledged by the community of faith.”

What Does a Christian Marriage Service Look Like?
A Christian marriage service is an act of worship of God in which the wedding party and the guests participate. An honest and sincere attitude of worship and reverence is expected of all those who participate in a marriage service in Immanuel Presbyterian Church. The Church staff will do everything possible to create a true atmosphere of worship for your marriage service.

Who May Be Married at Immanuel Presbyterian Church?
Since the community of faith plays an integral part in Christian marriage, normally only members and immediate family of members may be married at the church. Non-members wishing to be married at Immanuel and who are looking for a church home are invited to regularly attend Sunday worship for a number of weeks in order to determine if they would like to join this congregation.

Who May Officiate?
It is understood that the Pastor of Immanuel will officiate in, oversee, and conduct all weddings in this church. If requested, the officiating Pastor may invite a guest pastor to participate in the marriage service but there is no assurance or implied promise that this will be done. This invitation is strictly at the discretion of the officiating Pastor.

Scheduling a Wedding
Weddings are to be scheduled by the Pastor of Immanuel Presbyterian Church. If you are interested in being married at the church, make an appointment to speak with Pastor. Both the date and time of the wedding and the wedding rehearsal must be cleared by the officiating Pastor and placed on the church’s Master Calendar.

The officiating Pastor will inform the couple about other details, including pre-marital conferences, the Wedding Assistant, Organist, Custodian, photography and videotaping, receptions, and wedding fees.
