Martin Luther: 500 Years after Wittenberg
Sundays, October 1–29
9 a.m. in the Chapel

2017 marks the 500th anniversary of Martin Luther’s publication of his 95 Theses criticizing the Church’s sale of indulgences, the symbolic beginning of the Protestant Reformation which reshaped Europe and the world. Throughout October, leading up to Reformation Sunday, we will learn about Luther through video and primary sources. What drove him to challenge the most powerful institutions of his day? How did this obscure, brusque monk manage to be heard when others had failed? Does his message and method still matter and speak to and for us today? Class is led by John Sitler.
