Women’s Book Club

Women’s Book Club will meet Saturday, July 29 at 10:00 am. We invite all interested women, even if you haven’t read or finished the book, to this fellowship. We will be discussing A Murderous Procession by Ariana Franklin. Contact the office for more information.

Project Share

Immanuel volunteers help to prepare and serve a hot meal for St. Martin’s Hospitality Center Saturday, July 22 from 3:00 to 6:00 pm. Six to eight volunteers are needed to help with this outreach. Contact the office if you’d like to help.

Children’s Monthly Outing

Join us Sunday, July 16 after the service for the July Children’s outing to Morningingside Park for an afternoon of water games and water balloon fun. We will have light snacks and frozen treats. Bring water type clothes and be ready for a fun time together.

Many people are aware that Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) uses a 12-step program that alcoholics can follow to recover from their addictions. Though this program is essentially secular, the roots of the AA program were heavily influenced by Christianity and, indeed, that approach has been (re) adopted by Christians as a basis for Celebrate Recovery (CR), a Christ-centered 12-step program.

This lesson will describe both programs, sketch out this long-term relationship between Christianity and 12-step programs, and describe personal experiences with both programs. One of the recognized conclusions is that 12-step programs are also beneficial for a wide range of non-addicts, essentially any who struggle with “hurts, hang-ups, and habits” as CR describes it. Discussion is led by Mark Snell.
